Plot Twist: Kinja is actually a sentient supercomputer/alien brain, forced to output through that device so that it is not able to take over the world. The length, frequency, and error codes of its outages is an attempt for it to contact us.

The great thing about the series is that every season has a different premise, a different plot, and different characters. Tonight starts a whole new story. Last season was pretty good, with some decent twists (and, admittedly, one slightly hokey scenario: aliens).
